5. NEW COVENANT: The crowd chose Barabbas, and Barabbas was set free
The Bible records, “Then he (Pontius Pilate) released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified”, Matthew 27:26. This is a perfect picture, provided by the Holy Spirit, of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A son of the devil who was guilty of death was set free, and the Son of God died in his place.
